1. Introduction
1.1 The ‘Memories Through the Lens’ Photography Competition is organised by The Cartridge People Limited. No purchase necessary.
1.2 By entering the Competition, participants (“Entrants”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1 The Competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
2.2 Employees of the The Cartridge People Ltd. are not eligible to enter.
3. Entry Requirements
3.1 The Competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
3.2 Entries must be original photographs taken by the Entrant.
3.3 AI generated images are not accepted.
3.4 Each Entrant may submit one photograph.
3.5 Photographs must be submitted in JPG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) and a minimum file size of 2MB.
3.6 Entries must be submitted via our online submission form no earlier than 8am on Thursday, 1st August and no later than midnight on Thursday, 29th August 2024. Entrants are also welcome to share their entry on their favourite social media platform (Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn), using the hashtag #LensMemories2024 in their post and tagging @CartridgePeople.
3.7 When submitting an entry, an entrant must comply with applicable laws and regulations and must not post, submit or transmit any information, image, text or other material of any kind whatsoever;
a) that is not original material for which the entrant owns copyright. Where an individual whose image is featured in the Competition entry is aged less than 18 years, the entrant confirms that the parent or guardian of that individual has given the relevant consent;
b) that violates or infringes upon the rights of any other person, including another person’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
c) that is unlawful, offensive, threatening, abusive, defamatory, derogatory, obscene, vulgar, profane or indecent or that is sexual or pornographic in nature;
d) that vilifies, insults or humiliates any person on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation or any physical or mental disability;
e) that identifies any person other than the entrant, unless the entrant has obtained the written consent of that person to submit the material for the purposes of the competition;
f) that advertises or promotes any goods or services, websites, competitions or schemes or otherwise for commercial purposes;
g) that is knowingly incorrect, misleading or deceptive.
4. Categories and Themes
4.1 The Competition is specific to the theme of “Memories Through the Lens”.
4.2 Entries should reflect the theme of the category under which they are submitted. Photographs are windows to the past, encapsulating emotions, experiences, and stories that words often fail to express. Our theme, “Memories Through the Lens,” invites you to delve into your archives and select images that embody the essence of unforgettable moments. We want to see the world through your eyes and experience the memories that mean the most to you.
5. Judging
5.1 The photographs will be judged by our professional in-house photographer, Ilias Kounenis and our independent judge, Sophie Hearts Photography.
5.2 Judging will be based on the following criteria: Creativity and originality, relevance to the theme, technical quality and emotional impact.
5.3 The judges’ decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition.
6. Prizes
6.1 There is one winner prize available which will include a Polaroid Photography Bundle containing a Polaroid Now Generation 2 I-Type Instant Camera, a Polaroid Spectrum Box Camera Bag, two packs of iconic Polaroid instant film and a Polaroid Acrylic Photo Frame & Film Set.
6.2 The Cartridge People Ltd will not be held liable for any failure to fulfil the prize where the failure is caused by something outside our reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to majeure.
6.3 Prizes are non-transferable, and no cash alternative will be offered.
7. Notification of Winner
7.1 The winner will be notified by email and will be asked to provide a postal address to send the prize to within 7 days of the competition ending after the judging is complete. The winner will be publicly announced on Thursday, 5th September 2024.
7.2 If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim their prize within 10 working days, The Cartridge People Ltd reserves the right to withdraw the prize and select a replacement winner from the remaining eligible entries. The decision of the Cartridge People judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into with any individual who seeks to challenge the decision made.
8. Copyright and Usage Rights
8.1 Entrants retain the copyright to their photographs.
8.2 By entering the Competition, Entrants grant The Cartridge People Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display the photographs for the purposes of promoting the Competition and the Cartridge People Ltd.’s activities, including in online galleries, social media, and press releases including permission for any press or magazine article to feature any entries as part of our outreach.
8.3 The Cartridge People Ltd agrees to credit the Entrant whenever their photograph is used.
9. Personal Data
9.1 The Cartridge People Ltd will collect personal data from Entrants solely for the purpose of administering the Competition and will comply with all relevant data protection legislation.
9.2 By entering the Competition, Entrants consent to the use of their personal data as described in these Terms and Conditions.
9.3 It is a condition of entry that Cartridge People reserve the right to publish the name of the winner.
10. Liability
10.1 The Cartridge People Ltd accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, injury, or disappointment suffered by any Entrant entering the Competition or as a result of accepting any prize.
10.2 The Cartridge People Ltd is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet.
10.3 In all matters, the Directors of The Cartridge People Ltd decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
11. General
11.1 The Cartridge People Ltd reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these Terms and Conditions without notice.
11.2 Any changes to the Competition will be notified to Entrants as soon as possible by The Cartridge People Ltd.
11.3 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
