Daredevil Dave takes Wedding Day Plunge!

Proving marriage is something well worth jumping into, a Cheshire couple surprised their wedding guests by taking part in a wedding bungee jump.

Proving marriage is something well worth jumping into, a Cheshire couple surprised their wedding guests by taking part in a bungee jump seconds after completing their vows.

Dave Hitchen, who works as a Web Developer for H2eCommerce in Crewe and spends his days working on the CartridgePeople.com website, kept guests in the dark as to what he and travel blogger Nat had planned for their wedding on the Garry Bridge in Killiecrankie, in Perthshire, Scotland, on February 28.

Onlookers were astounded as they watched the 27 year-olds say “I do” to humanist minister Jane Bechtel, whilst standing 140ft above the River Garry before turning and leaping from the platform.

The thrill-seeking lovebirds were thankfully unscathed as Dave remarked “it’s been a funny old day” with the pair dangling upside down.

Watch Couple’s Bungee Jump Wedding

Dave had proposed on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro exactly a year earlier and felt the bungee jump was a “fantastic” way to tie the not. “The options were a transporter bridge or a cherry picker in a field.

“Then we heard about Highland Fling jump and instantly thought diving into the River Garry gorge would be truly breathtaking,” he said.

There was one more surprise on the way as the newlyweds announced their new married name. Nat explained: “We hate doing what you’re supposed to do, so instead of doing the usual with the name change, we both decided to get a new name.”

“We are now Nat and Dave Took, because we ‘took’ a new identity.”

Having had a delightful honeymoon touring Scotland in a campervan complete with spray painted murals, Dave is back to the day job of working on the CartridgePeople.com site!
